Girls' (and Boys') Weekend

I have been looking forward to this past weekend for weeks!!! One of my bffs, Deborah, has just moved from Miami to Knoxville and we decided to plan a girls' weekend in honor of her return!! Therefore, Deborah drove to Gadsden and met me at my house on Friday and then I drove us down to Tuscaloosa to stay with our friend Randi at her adorable house. We had a blast!!! I was so excited to see Deborah when she arrived, as I haven't seen her since my wedding!! She finally got to see my house and meet my dogs as well!! We had a great time chatting and catching up during the ride down to Tuscaloosa. We parked at my sister's house to change and Randi came to meet us when she got off of work. Again, the 3 of us haven't been together since my wedding so it was SUPER exciting to be reunited! It felt just like being back in college as we got dressed and ready together. What were we getting ready for? RUSH! It was the last weekend of Rush and my sister is the rush chair for our sorority AOII (Deb, Randi and I are pledge sisters) and we thought it was the perfect opportunity for a reunion. Friday was skit day and we were so excited to see the new skit! When we arrived at the house it was so strange since none of the girls really knew us. We loved every minute of it and the skit was really good (a play on the Wizard of Oz).

After watching the skit we went to Surin for dinner, since Deb hadn't eaten there since she left college (06, mind you!). Then we went back to Randi's and I had a surprise for each girl--an adorable cake plate! The plate part looks like a skirt and the stand part is legs and the base is shoes! The girls were so excited!

We stayed up late laughing and talking before we crashed into Randi's super comfortable beds (really-one of the best beds I have ever slept on).
On Saturday morning I got up early and drove to Bham to meet my law school girl friends Jennifer, Sarah, and Shelley. Jennifer and Sarah have gotten engaged recently and so we had to get together and celebrate! We met at Another Broken Egg in Mountain Brook to hear the stories of their engagements and to dish on wedding plans! We really had a great time and have vowed to get together more often! (I can't believe I forgot to take a pic!)

Me and Jennifer at my lingerie shower. Now I get to throw one for her!

Me, Shelley, and Sarah at graduation!

Once back in Ttown, I got ready at my sister's and headed back over to the sorority house for Serious Night. This is my favorite part of rush because it is the time when the girls in the house really share what it means to them to be an AOII. When I arrived several girls from the pledge class above me were there, which was super exciting since I hadn't seen them in quite a while. Deb and Randi arrived a little while later, and I have to confess that all of us cried during the Serious Night ceremony!! It was so special for us to be there together again! After it was over, the bottom dropped out so the rushees had to stay put in the sorority house, meaning that WE had to stay put! We were closed up in the house mother's bedroom and had to be very quite (although we did get to take pics!).

After about an hour we were free, but we had to run through the rain to get to our car. Needless to say, it was not a pretty sight! We went to Cypress Inn for dinner, a Tuscaloosa landmark! Afterwards we went back to Randi's and watched some good bad tv (a la Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, etc), snacked, and of course talked and giggled until way too late!! While Deb and I were asleep, Randi got a call that her friend Emily was in labor! She went to the hospital and was able to great the beautiful new baby Andrew! Congrats Joey and Emily!!!
On Sunday morning, I got up early and went to mass at my Tuscaloosa church. I literally RAN from the church 3 blocks to the sorority house so I didn't miss the Bid Day festivities. When I arrived at the house I was so excited to learn that 3 Gadsden area girls had pledged AOII!

(AOII's waiting on Gadsden girls!)

I got to stand with their families as the girls ran screaming to their new home!

I LOVE Bid Day--it is SUPER exciting! I always get teary thinking about MY bid day and my sister's bid day!

My Aunt Fran and my grandmother had also come to town so we got to see them too! We hung around the house for a while and then headed to Pepitos for lunch. YUM!! I was so sad to leave Randi, although I'm sure she needed a nap after the eventful night and day! Deb and I had a pleasant ride back and as soon as she left my house I took a fast shower (as it was MISERABLY hot that day) and then a LONG nap! I guess I just can't stay up late like I used to (ok, that is a lie--I NEVER have been able to stay up late). That night Forrest and I went to my parents' house for dinner as usual and got to hang out with my brother too!
What was Forrest doing while I was having fun in Ttown?? Having a fun little weekend of his own! His brother Davis has just moved back to Gadsden after taking the Bar exam--woohoo--so on Friday night the Bailey clan went to dinner in Sardis (where I am the assistant judge, btw) to celebrate. On Saturday, Forrest went back to Duck Springs where his fam lives and took the dogs! Sonny had his first experience with cows!! Forrest said he was SO excited to see the cows and bounded up to greet them. The cows, however, were not so excited about Sonny and they ran from him. Forrest said it looked like Sonny was really upset! Ruffles did NOT care for the cows so she stayed inside and got lots of love an attention! That night Forrest went to my parents' house, as they were having a "show off the new basement" party. Lots of our friends were there and he had a great time!!! On Sunday, Davis cooked a big lunch and so Forrest went to partake in that as well!! He was definitely well fed while I was gone!!
