You Win Some, You Lose Some

We will get to the title of this post in a minute--even though I don't really feel like discussing it! This weekend was an away game for the Tide and we didn't go, which gave us a nice weekend at home to kind of catch up on everything we ignore when we are going to football games. On Friday night we went out to eat with my parents and then went home to watch Sherlock Holmes. We haven't had a weekend just to sit at home and watch a movie in as long as I can remember! It was pretty good, although we were both so tired we kept dozing off!

On Saturday morning we got up earlier than I would have liked so we could go to Trade Day one last time before it gets cold. We picked up Davis and we even brought Sonny with us! It was SO pleasant outside and even though I had to get up early, I was so glad that we went! We found a few good deals but more than that we had a good time just wandering around outside! Sonny had a GREAT time. He is such a love bug --he let so many people pet him and everyone loved him!

A baby divided???

I found Farrah's wedding dress!

Once we got home, I started on my game day dip that I have been itching to try for months! I had it back in the spring when I did Career Day at Striplin and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to unveil it as my own! It is super simple:
1 lb sausage (I used the Italian flavored kind)
1 8 oz cream cheese (I used lite)
1 8 oz sour cream (again, lite)
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (not so lite)
1 can Rotel tomatoes
Mix together and bake in a bread bowl for 45 min at 350 and you are done!
I actually bought a round loaf of sour dough and hollowed out a bread bowl myself, and I must say I impressed myself with my skills!
This is after we had already started to devour it!

Once the dip was mixed up we loaded up Ruffles and headed to Justin's to watch the game with him and Farrah and Jonathan and Denise. I now choose to leave out all references to the game at this time.
After the game we had a delicious meal together and even found a way to laugh! Justin cooked a Boston butt and Farrah had made some baked beans from the Pioneer Woman's recipe as well as her delicious Asian slaw and Heath Bar brownies (which she made like muffins this time). Denise made some double chocolate cookies and an apple tort that looked like something out of a magazine! If only I had taken a picture of it! After dinner we were all full and tired and a little depressed, despite the wonderful day with friends, so we headed home to sleep off the loss.
On Sunday, I was actually surprised that the sun was shining when I woke up, considering the events of the day before! :) We went to church and since it was so pretty and warm out, we packed up the dogs and went to the lake for the day! The water was VERY low and Sonny loved running through the shallow water and digging in the mud. Ruffles and I laid out all afternoon. It was so nice to be able to sit in the quiet and read for so long. Forrest even got to try out his new kayak despite the shallow water. It was a very peaceful and relaxing day--something that I think we both have been needing!

Forrest tried to get Ruffles to like the water, to no avail. You can see that Sonny, in the background, loves it

As usual, we went to my parents' for dinner (beer can chicken) and then went home and lounged around watching tv until time for bed! This week starts Forrest's fall break, so he'll be in town all week. We have a few fun things planned that I am really looking forward to, so be ready for some exciting posts soon!
***Blog family--I would like to ask you all to pray for a special intention for me. I got some news this week about a friend who really needs our prayers! Please pray for strength, peace of mind, and healing for my dear friend!***
