Nutella Cake

Here is the recipe for the cake I made for Father's Day. I have to say it was spectacular!! Thanks Aunt Fran for sending it to me, and to Justin and Farrah for letting me bake it in their oven since mine is still broken! This was adapted from Paula Deen (so you know it has a lot of butter!).

1 boxed devil's food cake mix (do NOT prepare according to package directions)
1 egg
1 stick butter (8 tablespoons), melted

1 8oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup Nutella
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick butter (8 tablespoons), melted
1 box (16oz) powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 inch pan.

Next, in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and Nutella until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and melted butter, and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread this mixture over the cake batter and bake for 40-50 minutes.

Make sure not to over bake, as the center should be a little gooey. Served with fresh whipped cream and enjoy!

The finished product. It comes out kind of like brownies, not as much like cake.
