Legally Blogging!

It's Tuesday! You know what that means!

The Legally Blogging idea was dreamed up by three ladies who all met in blog-land and instantly clicked. You could say it was love at first sight. The immediate connection stemmed from the one thing they had in common: Law. Obviously, as time went on, they discovered they had much more in common than just law, but that was a great starting point.

Here they are!

They decided to join forces and start a blogging series, to show that lawyers aren't always what you'd expect. The main goal of the series is to connect with other legal ladies out there and meet some great new people. Every week, the hope is to showcase a new person in the series.

Why did you start blogging? It seemed like all I ever talked about was makeup and my workouts, so I decided to blog about it instead of boring the people around me. Blogging is a fantastic outlet, and a great way to meet people with similar interests.

What do you like to do when you're not blogging? I am an avid reader, I've always got my
nose in a bookkindle with me. I love working out, and I love to hike! I only started hiking last autumn and it quickly became my favorite activity. I'm lucky that I live close to a few access roads in the foothills so there's always a nearby trail. Gorgeous trails like this are also a short drive away.

I haven't been hiking much lately though, since I'm training for a half-marathon. Not bad for a girl who used every excuse ever invented to get out of PE in high school.

What do you find is the biggest misconception about lawyers? Nothing irritates me more than being asked "but how can a lawyer be unemployed?". A law license does not guarantee long-term, meaningful employment! I'm frequently unemployed because I do contract work. I enjoy the breaks because I like to travel and hang out at my gym, but if I go more than a couple of months without a project I start to get nervous. Contract work is competitive! And with Big Firms laying off associates on a regular basis, there are more contract attorneys than jobs.

What's your favorite vacation you've been on? Oh so tough to decide. I love to travel. Last year I spent a month in South East Asia

And we went to the Yucatan Peninsula
Kabah Mayan Temple

and Los Cabos

El Arco
El Arco
And New York City to see Ricky Martin in Evita!
but maybe my favorite vacation was when I lived in Osaka, Japan and 류 씨 came to visit for two weeks in 2006. We did a lot of sightseeing and touristy stuff, and I got to meet Hello Kitty (true story!)

What's your best and worst home reno project? My apartment in Osaka was pretty nasty - it was an older, traditional apartment that had seen better days. The tatami flooring was gross and the walls were shocking. I made the place acceptable by buying palettes for my futon so it wasn't on the floor. Then I hung curtains on the wall by my futon and put Japanese prints and a kimono on the other walls. I did it all on the cheap too - most of the stuff came from the 100 yen shop!
