My best wedding advice...

My cousin Ashley is getting married this weekend! NOTHING is more exciting to me than a wedding! A party, dancing, free drinks and cake? Sign me up! I have to give a major kudos to Ashley because she has not been a bridezilla at all, and neither has her mom. They have adhered to my cardinal rule of weddings: once you realize you are not the first person to get married, nor are you the only person this year, or this day that is getting married, your life will be much much easier! You probably won't get everything you want, the exact way that you want it, and that is ok! It's about the marriage, duh! Yes, it's fun to throw a party and be surrounded by your closest friends. I tear up every time I think back to my wedding, which I wouldn't trade for the world. It is really special to stand up in front of God and all of the people who love you the most and promise to love someone for the rest of your life. That's what it all boils down to, after all. Yes, I remember that my party was great but in the end, we would have been married even if the cake fell or my gown tore or the flowers wilted. We would have still been where we are today (I assume), without all of the frills. There was no reason to be a diva or a bundle of nerves because when you strip away all of the "clutter" it's about you and your husband. I don't remember being stressed or worried, I just remember the greatest day ever, the day I got to marry my love! If you can keep all of this in the front of your mind, your wedding, big or small, will be the most special day of YOUR life (not everyone else's, as that is not the point). I wish Ashley and Jeremiah all the best of luck, although they don't need it. Take every day as it comes, be thankful each day for the person God has chosen for you, and don't forget to have fun! Love you guys!!

  2. great advice! as we're planning ours, i'm trying to stay calm and not turn into a bridezilla. I think I've been pretty good so far (at least I think so ha!) agree that it's more about the marriage than the wedding so it's not something to get too crazy about.
