Writing all day long

So today I'm writing a brief, which is like the lawyer equivalent to a term paper. We write briefs when we want to appeal a decision from the court to a higher appeals court. We have to read the transcript from the original case (this time mine is about 400 pages--8 1/2 by 11 pages) and then research the issue we are appealing. Then, the paper writing begins, and the point of it all is to use prior decisions in other cases to prove to the appeals case that our case deserves a different outcome. Basically, we use the cases to argue that we are right and the first judge was wrong. It takes me a couple of good days of working to knock out a satisfactory brief and I can't do it at my office with the phones ringing, people coming in, etc. So, I kind of like brief writing now because I get to stay home and do it! I work the exact same way I did in college--in my bed, under the covers, surrounded by papers, books, highlighters, and now of course Ruffles. Anyway, I say all that to say that today I'm not exactly in the blog post writing mood, as I need to be focused on my work today. Wish me luck!

  1. Good luck with your brief! It's amazing you get to spend the day at home working in bed!

  2. I had to write a brief brief for a paralegal class I took. Getting through the court case was hard enough; then writing the brief...good grief!! Good luck.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I read each and every one of them and they always make me smile!
