What to wear: baby girl fall wardrobe

I have to admit dressing Charlotte and shopping for her clothes has become my favorite hobby (how lame I sound right?). The problem with a growing child is that you have to buy everything from scratch each season. I actually hate shopping for myself and rarely do it (thank you online shopping) so it's a good thing I don't really grow anymore (or since like the 10th grade). Charlotte however grows like a little weed so I have to stay on the front end of her growth (if that's even possible) to make sure she isn't busting out of her outfits. I have had to really rationalize with myself however about the cost and amount of clothes she needs. I mean she doesn't go that many places so she doesn't mean that many outfits. It's easy to go overboard and I have to confess I definitely have (and more than likely will again). Now that it's fall it's time to start buying again (ok, I've been buying most of the summer) and since its after Labor Day we have to say good bye to our fun summer outfits. What are the baby girl after Labor Day clothes rules? Luckily for babies they don't have that many clothes rules but there are a few easy rules of thumb I have learned from my friends to keep Charlotte's wardrobe seasonally appropriate.
1.  White after Labor Day
Traditionally white after Labor Day is a big no no. Luckily for babies this rule doesn't apply. White shoes are ok year round, although it's a good idea to start phasing out the white sandals as it gets colder. I've started putting Charlotte in her gold sandals rather than her white ones, but the white closed toe shoes are on the menu with tights and knee socks for the rest of the year. The same holds true for white dresses--go wild--but put away anything eyelet.

Holding on to those white sandals for one more week! See Harper has already switched to gold!

2. Good bye summer
I have to admit I was sad when I put away Charlotte's super summery outfits. It's time to say adios to mermaids, boats, and other super beachy themed outfits. Of course, if you are going to to beach, or live near the beach you can still pull off the beach wear!
Bye bye mermaids! (Although I have seen some cute winterized mermaid outfits out there!)

3. Seersucker
Traditionally seersucker is a no no after Labor Day, but we bend that rule just a little. It's so hot in the south that you can typically pull off seersucker through September. Charlotte has a few seersucker game day outfits that she will wear for the rest of the month.

4. Bubbles
It's hot down here ok? That being said, it's totally fine for warm weather babies to rock their bubbles and bloomer sets for as long as they can! We definitely are!
Bubble and gold shoes for singing sprouts this past week!

Ok--those are the rules we will be loosely following to transition us from summer to fall! Do you have any baby wardrobe rules of thumb you follow?!

August fun

We have had so much fun this month! Here is a look at what we have been up to!
We took c to eat Japanese one night and she loved the noodles!!

Afterwards we went to the dollar tree and had some big fun!
We also wet to the zoo again. C really loves the animals.
We got to meet up with our friends richard and Tara and see their darling twin girls.
Best i could do!

And of course we had to ride the carousel!

We also went to the dragon boat race to cheer on the lawyer team. C was thrilled that her auntie m came to visit!

We also visited Mimi and granddaddy for his birthday. C loves her Mimi and her pool!
Charlotte aunt carol came all the way from Dallas to visit her! I think this picture is hilarious--she is mad at me because I was making her look at me and she would have rather been pulling on aunt carols necklace.

We had a little free library open up on our street! Neither Forrest nor I grew up in a "neighborhood" and so we love that Charlotte is getting to. The library is just another reason we love it! We donated some books last week and can't wait for it to get up and running!

We took Charlotte to Atlanta for the weekend and had a blast! At dinner the first night the waiter was impressed that she was eating pimento cheese and hummus and she would laugh along with the table of ladies next to us. They called her mocking baby ha ha! The next day we went to the aquarium with my friend Deborah and her family. It was awesome!! C loved the sea lion show and will bark when you ask her what a sea lion says. After a good nap we had dinner with my brother and sister in law and got to see their apartment.

C also started singing sprouts music class this month. She was a little shy at first but by the end she was dancing away! I hope she will always enjoy music and moving and grooving!!

19 months

This month Charlotte has started "reading to us". She will hold the book and babble away and then turn the page and start over. She gets mad if you don't let her do it her way!
Her pretending game is pretty strong. She likes to pretend feed her dolls and animals or give them juice or a pacifier. She also likes to change them when we change her and will sometimes go to check her baby's diaper. She is a regular little mama. She still likes to play with her shoes and really likes to dress up now.

I'm working on teaching her the names of clothes and how to put them on. If you tell her she looks pretty she usually will point to her head and say "bow".

She is turning the corner with her utensils and pretty much using them full time. I don't quite trust her with a plate yet though, as she tends to throw them. She does like to eat cereal and milk out of a bowl on her own though and it is a hot mess but she loves it.
This is what most eating looks like at our house now..

Stickers are huge around our house and I'm always checking myself for rouge ones. I went to court with two minions on my arms one day and walked all over the Atlanta aquarium with one stuck to the back of my thigh. She is into princesses and minions right now. She says "Ba" for belle and "Beas" for beast and "Ella" for Cinderella. Also "bitty" is sleeping beauty. She still loves to dance and we love to watch her. She is still loving her singing sprouts class and can't wait to "immy" (shimmy) each week!

She is into songs now and likes me to sing Disney songs. She loves a whole new world, beauty and the beast, part of your world, and once upon a dream. She will ask me to sing different ones like I'm a juke box but I don't care--I love that we can sing together. I loved singing with my mom and this was one of the things that I looked forward to when I learned I was having a baby. She also likes to yell at our amazon echo "Alexa" and tell her to play songs. "Ak minion" means "Alexa play the minions!"

Her vocabulary is growing but her pronunciation it's catching up as quickly. I love her using her little baby words and I know they will go away soon so I'm soaking them up. I
I love it when she says "iddy da da" (or whomever) meaning silly da da when he acts funny! I can't list all of her words anymore but she is able to make herself understood verbally much much better than last month. It's like her vocabulary exploded over night!

She also loves loves loves the play ground and the slide. I can't believe she can do it all herself!! She gets upset when it's time to go home!
Along those same lines, she has started throwing little fits when she doesn't get her way. She will scream and kick or stomp her little feet for a few seconds. We calmly pick her up and tell her we don't act that way, but I fear the terrible twos are approaching!

Finally, she is still loving school! She is always excited to show me the art project she makes daily and will "tell me" about her day. Usually she says "ace" which means "Wes" who is her little friend who shares his hash browns with her in the mornings. She also tells me about Lilly and Ariana and Jane (she has her owns words for them of course). After school we drive by daddy's office to show him her craft and then we head home for her to take a long nap. I stay home with her those afternoons and work while she snoozes.
Other fun things this month: first stomach virus (not so fun), first pony tail,

first ice cream (see above) and first time to hold and pet a kitten!! She loves that cat so much!!
